Announcement: I’ve Got New Fiction on the Way

I’m stoked to announce that I’ve sold two new pieces this year, marking my first original sales since “Those Who Forget and Those Who Perish” in—wait for it—2022.

“The Run to Kelly Parker’s,” which will appear in Metastellar, follows a young track star confronting the horrific traditions of her local community. “The Lake’s Wife,” forthcoming in Scryptid Games’ Tales from the Cryptids, tells the story of a woman who falls in love with a lake she visited in childhood, and the strange transformation process resulting from it. Both stories were originally written for Apex Magazine’s monthly flash fiction contest.

According to my records on The Grinder, “The Run to Kelly Parker’s” received three rejections in 2025 and one in 2026 before finding a home. It was my twentieth submission of sixty-five total submissions thus far in 2026, and my second-ever submission to Metastellar. This was my first acceptance of the year, following twenty-three rejections.

Scryptid Games accepted “The Lake’s Wife” on its second submission, my thirty-fourth of 2026, which I sent out two days after Apex rejected it in April. This was my only submission to Tales from the Cryptids. This acceptance was my second of 2026, following twenty-six rejections and the aforementioned acceptance of “The Run to Kelly Parker’s.”

As of this writing, I have twenty-seven open submissions across nineteen pieces. Eleven of those are multiple submissions—poetry and one short story—and eleven are simultaneous submissions. The most simultaneous submissions I have on any one piece is three, and the most submissions I have out at any single market is four. They’ve been on submission for between three and 475 days.

My current WIP is a weird novel about a teenager who discovers that her town is full of spatiotemporal portals only she can interact with. I’m also eyeballs-deep in edits on my previous longform project, the story of a prodigal writer who returns to South Carolina and must confront the elder evil taking over their tiny hometown.

“The Run to Kelly Parker’s” is forthcoming in Metastellar. “The Lake’s Wife” will appear in Tales from the Cryptids, currently slated for release in October 2026. You can read more of my fiction here.
