A Gilmore Girls-related cookbook might have been the talk of 2016, but it wasn’t the only TV show-inspired recipe volume to come out last year. Twin Peaks U.K. Festival founder Lindsey Bowden‘s Twin Peaks cookbook, Damn Fine Cherry Pie: And Other Recipes from TV’s Twin Peaks, is a must-have for any fan of David Lynch’s wonderfully weird, ’90s television staple.
Damn Fine Cherry Pie features a bounty of recipes related to the people and places that made Twin Peaks so alluring. Bowden’s cookbook contains everything from Double-R Diner fare to sinfully decadent entrees, and is perfect for cooks of any skill level. Fan-favorite characters like the Log Lady and Lucy Moran are remembered fondly with a roulade and doughnuts, and dishes mentioned in passing on the show — Doc Hayward’s Diet Lasagna, anyone? — appear. The owls are definitely not what they seem this time around, popping up in Damn Fine Cherry Pie as blueberry whoopie pies.
If you’re thinking that Damn Fine Cherry Pie sounds a lot like a lackluster, but branded, cookbook, think again. Bowden’s book is chock full of fantastic photographs that will jerk you right back into the chilly, misty, ’90s atmosphere that just screams “Twin Peaks!” Bowden also includes tips on throwing your own Twin Peaks party and making your own Twin Peaks Ludo board, so you’re all set for entertaining your friends whenever a David Lynch marathon calls to your soul.
